Often times you can think about all the things that you still don’t have together and it can get discouraging. That’s the same for me too–but most of the time I am happy with who I am and where I’ve come from. All my past pain, all of my current struggles are fashioning within me and you who God wants us to be.
One of my favorite quotes is the following:
“Sister, don’t you rename yourself.
You see a tiny portion of your life; you do not see the entire story. Don’t name your day or your life or your identity based on any untruth about the Lord. You don’t know what happens next in your story, but you absolutely know the Lord wants good for you all the days of your life. You absolutely can bet on the truth that you are loved with an everlasting Love and you have a Father who will take care of all that you need.
Wait for the Lord. Wait for Him to turn the page before you rename yourself.”
So in spite of where you have been or where you wish you already were don’t forget that you should love yourself. You might not give yourself all the credit that’s due for how how far you have walked so far. And you should. God has rescued you out of your pain and it is our job to work it out. Sometimes we walk with a limp, sometimes we have to be stretched, but inevitable we will walk in full stride. We need to learn to love where we are at but never lose focus of where we still need to go.
