Thursday Inspiration 6.19.14

Today I have hope and it feels amazing. On Monday I was given an opportunity to phone interview for a job and I have an in-person interview next week. Today another person reached out from a different company and I phone interviewed with them today and have an in-person interview next week. All in all I’m on cloud 9 just thinking about a new work environment.

Today there are a few verses that I found encouraged by:

One of the leaders from Hillsong NYC Venue Design sent me Genesis 13:14 The LORD said to Abram, “Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are”. I was floored. I might have read this before and thought nothing of it but this morning it was like it smacked me in the face. It was like God was telling me, Jessica, lift up your eyes and look around. Look beyond where you are right now. There is a whole life ahead of you. A whole new place I’ve prepared for you. Don’t be discouraged by where you are and the people around you–you are going away from that place. I am taking you to a place where I will bless you and have provisioned for you. Just like Abram God desires to supply all of our needs and is even anxious to go beyond anything we could ever ask, hope or imagine.

Another verse comes from Zephaniah 3:16-17

Jerusalem will be told:
“Don’t be afraid.
Dear Zion,
don’t despair.
Your God is present among you,
a strong Warrior there to save you.
Happy to have you back, he’ll calm you with his love
and delight you with his songs.

Again it was like God was speaking to me. Jessica will be told. Do not be afraid. Dear Jessica, don’t despair. Your God is with you, fighting for you. He is happy to have you where He wants you. In a place of total dependence and trust beyond anything you’ve ever been brought to. He will calm you with His love and sing over you. I love that.

Another verse is Ecclesiastes 9:7-10

Seize life! Eat bread with gusto,
Drink wine with a robust heart.
Oh yes—God takes pleasure in your pleasure!
Dress festively every morning.
Don’t skimp on colors and scarves.
Relish life with the spouse you love
Each and every day of your precarious life.
Each day is God’s gift.

I must be God’s daughter because I love some bread and wine! Ha! But for real God is the kind of God who delights in my pleasure. In your pleasure. He wants us to dress happily, enjoy married life if we are married, enjoy single life if we are single, enjoy the little things, enjoy life, because each day is a gift from him. He wants very badly for all of us to trust him. To take pleasure in life but to also delight in Him. I think this is exactly why during the last supper Jesus compared himself to bread and wine. His body, His blood. He wants us to in essence devour Him with enjoyment and vigor. To savor Him. To drink of His goodness and love and grace and mercy with a strong heart. With everything.

Lastly this verse is how I hope to carry out my days until my interviews next week. With expectancy of His favor and provision. In Colossians 3:15-17 it says to “Cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.”

I pray today for favor. For provision. I thank God in advance for what He has prepared for me. For what He has laid before me and walked through Himself so that it is ready for me when I get there. I look forward to His answers. I believe in His goodness. I do not need to be fearful or worry that this is the only land I am stranded in because God says “everything you see, the whole land spread out before you, I will give to you and your children forever. I’ll make your descendants like dust—counting your descendants will be as impossible as counting the dust of the Earth. So—on your feet, get moving! Walk through the country, its length and breadth; I’m giving it all to you”. Amen.
