Community Feature – thoughtsbytiffanie

One of my new initiatives is to hear from my followers in a way that directly meets them on their journeys.⠀

On Instagram I encourage you to tag your posts with #unfilteredchristianwomen so I can see what everyone is up to and feature topics that they are currently thinking about or needing feedback on.⠀

My goal will always be to write a blog post each month on a topic from my own heart BUT I also want to make room for another post that same month directly addressing a topic found via Instagram using the community hashtag.⠀

This month I am featuring a post from: @thoughtsbytiffanie *⠀

I think Tiffanie’s post is a great reminder that things are not always going to look like we thought they would. But that doesn’t mean that we aren’t on the right track.⠀

My default can often be to think God doesn’t care about me. I’ve gotten better over the years, but if I’m not vigilant this can easily creep up on me when I’m going through hard times.

I love the two points Tiffanie highlighted:

You’re not being punished, you’re being protected.

You’re not being punished, you’re being prepared.

Nahum 1:7 is a good reminder of God’s protection:

“The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.”

1 Corinthians 2:9 is a good reminder of God’s preparations for us:

“What no eye has seen,
    what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”[a]
the things God has prepared for those who love him

Jesscbnyc Recommends: Colour 2017 Journal

Hey guys! Who doesn’t love a journal? I find myself suckered into a new journal at every conference and I was honestly on the fence about this one.

It’s quite larger than a normal journal but I loved the cover art and the layout.

This has quickly become my favorite “Accountability” journal to make sure I don’t just hoard sermons but actually remember to remove them off my phone and take notes on them.

If you’re looking for an unusual, more create journal, this one might be for you! You can purchase it online via

SOAP 5.14.17

Good morning!⠀

This morning I had my tea and am ready to dive into a SOAP for you guys.⠀

For those who don’t know, SOAP stands for:⠀

Scripture: Psalm 5:1-3 MSG

Observation: Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life
on your altar

Application: Every morning I should and can lay out every part of my life for God knowing that God is in control and able to cover every aspect of my need.

Prayer: God help me to remember that every morning I can lay my requests before you and you will hear me and acknowledge me.

I’ve realized that I collect a lot of Voice Memos on my iPhone. I like being able to record sermons from church in case any of my friends miss it and also so I can re-listen to messages or playback areas I wasn’t quick enough to take notes on.

One of the downsides to recording everything is that I’ve amassed so many that I’ve gotten a little lazy with the whole, taking notes from them, part.

During Colour I purchased a new notebook, even though I have a lot, and last month I got to thinking. I can use this book as an accountability tool to make sure that I am going through all my recordings and taking out the best notes from them.

What’s something you can do today to keep yourself accountable?

SOAP 5.4.17

Good morning!⠀

This morning I had my tea and am ready to dive into a SOAP for you guys.⠀

For those who don’t know, SOAP stands for:⠀

Scripture: ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭2:5‬ MSG

Observation: I love the line: “He’ll show us the way he works so we can live the way we’re made.” By knowing God we are told we will be able to live how He made us.

Application: Until I get to Heaven I will not be perfect, but I can still live in the light of God.

Prayer: God thank you that you sent Jesus so we can live in Your light. Thank you that, as Matthew Henry says, “Let us remember that when true religion flourishes, men delight in going up to the house of the Lord, and in urging others to accompany them.” Amen.

Enlarge Your Tent

Hey friends,

I’m not 100% ready to share full context yet, but early this morning, way before my alarm, I woke up ready to start a task. As I got up to do it, I felt like God said to me. Stop. I want to tell you something. And I felt like he wanted me to read something in the Bible. I had that sense within me. I wondered, okay, what should I read? And for a brief second I heard nothing. Then Isaiah 54 popped into my mind. Trust me this doesn’t always happen. Lol.

This part stuck out to me differently today:

16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith
who fans the coals into flame
and forges a weapon fit for its work.

I feel like God told me this morning – that I’m the blacksmith. May is already a new chapter for me, unexpectedly, and although I have peace I’m still like – hey, I’m not prepared to enlarge my tent again!

Just wanted to share this moment because God spoke to me this morning, and I hope it encourages you in whatever season you find yourself in.
