“Ever Be”

Your love is devoted like a ring of solid gold Like a vow that is tested like a covenant of old Your love is enduring through the winter rain And beyond the horizon with mercy for today

Faithful You have been and faithful you will be You pledge yourself to me and it’s why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips, ever be on my lips Your praise will ever be on my lips, ever be on my lips

You Father the orphan Your kindness makes us whole You shoulder our weakness And Your strength becomes our own You’re making me like you Clothing me in white Bringing beauty from ashes For You will have Your bride

Free of all her guilt and rid of all her shame And known by her true name and it’s why I sing

You will be praised You will be praised With angels and saints we sing worthy are You Lord You will be praised You will be praised With angels and saints we sing worthy are You Lord

I love this song because there is something for all of us in it. God is devoted and loves us all uniquely. His love endures. He is faithful. He Fathers the orphaned. He is kind. He carries our burdens. He brings dead things to life. We are His Bride and we are free of shame and guilt through Christ alone. He is worthy. He will be praised. Every knee will bow. Every tongue confess. He is Lord. Thank God, He’s Good.

Psalm 111:1-10 MSG

Hallelujah! I give thanks to God with everything I’ve got— Wherever good people gather, and in the congregation. God’s works are so great, worth A lifetime of study—endless enjoyment! Splendor and beauty mark his craft; His generosity never gives out. His miracles are his memorial— This God of Grace, this God of Love. He gave food to those who fear him, He remembered to keep his ancient promise. He proved to his people that he could do what he said: Hand them the nations on a platter—a gift! He manufactures truth and justice; All his products are guaranteed to last— Never out-of-date, never obsolete, rust-proof. All that he makes and does is honest and true: He paid the ransom for his people, He ordered his Covenant kept forever. He’s so personal and holy, worthy of our respect. The good life begins in the fear of God— Do that and you’ll know the blessing of God. His Hallelujah lasts forever!

Today is a simple post–God is worthy to be praised and respected. He is a personal God, a truthful God, a faithful God. Let us worship and adore Him today for His goodness and grace.

Isaiah 52:11-12 MSG

 Purify yourselves
in the process of worship, carrying the holy vessels of God.
But you don’t have to be in a hurry.
    You’re not running from anybody!
God is leading you out of here,
and the God of Israel is also your rear guard.

Currently I’m in a kind of awkward situation. I’m happy at work but another company is interested in interviewing me for another position because of the work I’ve done here. It’s easy when you are unhappy at a job to think about leaving—but when you are content and finally settled in a new job–it’s uncomfortable to think about change.

I love this verse because it reminds me that I’m not running. I don’t have to think about leaving here and running somewhere else. If God wants to move He will direct my path and I will day by day and step by step go in that direction. Nothing needs to be stressful about this. Nothing needs to feel rushed and frenzied. If God is leading me out of here–He will do so by going before me and by walking behind me. I am surrounded on all sides.

God hears our prayers. We can smile and rest knowing He’s got it all under control. We can rest.

Thursday Inspiration 10.30.14

I think I’m getting sick. I had an overall feeling of malaise right before bed last night. My head feels full of cotton, and my stomach just feels unsettled. I went into today with the posture of my head down so to speak. I’m ready for the day to be over and to crawl back into bed to sleep it off.

But it’s funny how in the midst of it all, when you aren’t feeling your best, how God shows up.

On the bus ride to work I was feeling kind of nauseous which was making me anxious..I actually think I might have emetophobia but anyway. As I was closing my eyes I started to sing a song. This only happened to me once before (refer to my last post: https://jesscbnyc.wordpress.com/2014/04/16/let-it-rain-lyric)but I know it was straight from God and Heaven. I jotted it down in my phone:

I inhale Your presence

I exhale Your praise

I know I’m created

To exalt Your name

All worries behind me

I call out for You

No matter my problem

You’ll always come through

I finally got to the office and while I’m getting work done I don’t feel 100% myself. But again unexpectedly I was asked to work on a side project coming up with marketing terms/copy writing for use on our website. It just feels good, which I’m feeling sick, to be creative and to come up with new, fresh, words. Similar to my “song” from this morning.

Lastly I got a random text message from someone at church with a lovely scripture:

10628118_787658509069_4086622133334637870_n

An excerpt from Psalm 96 MSG:

1-2 Sing God a brand-new song!
Earth and everyone in it, sing!
Sing to Godworship God!

2-3 Shout the news of his victory from sea to sea,
Take the news of his glory to the lost,
News of his wonders to one and all!

4-5 For God is great, and worth a thousand Hallelujahs.
His terrible beauty makes the gods look cheap;
Pagan gods are mere tatters and rags.

All I can say today is God is good!

Wednesday Inspiration 10.22.14

I caught myself feeling particularly lonely a few days ago. It’s hard when social media in particular makes it seem like everyone’s having the time of their lives. Selfies of friends having sleepovers, ambiguous inside jokes, pictures with hundreds of likes of random landscapes or blurry images that quite frankly aren’t that interesting but they have enough followers that will approve of anything they post, you know what I mean. I joked once to my mom that I could literally post that I won a million dollars and want to share it and I would get—max 12 likes on Instagram.

I think sometimes it can be easy to feel like no one is validating your existence. You maybe hang out with friends once a month IF that. People get too busy to check in with a text or call. The highlight of your week is catching up on tv shows on Free on Demand since you were too tired to stay up past 9 pm on a weeknight. Right? Maybe I’m projecting here.

Or better yet, you can feel like the same people are being honored/praised/included/invited and you have enough self worth to know you could possibly at one point or another deserve those things but you are in the shadows. For whatever reason you aren’t noteworthy or noticed. And you know what? That’s okay.

I used to be way more co-dependent about things like that when I was in grade school/high school/ even in college. But as I get older–in a healthy way–I’ve learned to not care. Granted I’m human and the enemy can whisper things to make you question your worth and you can be reminded of past feelings of inadequacy but it’s important to reel that all in. If the God of the Universe keeps a careful eye on me, if He is pleased with me, does it really matter if no one else is?

An Excerpt from Isaiah 54 MSG:

Don’t be afraid—you’re not going to be embarrassed.
Don’t hold back—you’re not going to come up short.
You’ll forget all about the humiliations of your youth,
and the indignities of being a widow will fade from memory.
For your Maker is your bridegroom,
    his name, God-of-the-Angel-Armies!
Your Redeemer is The Holy of Israel,
known as God of the whole earth.
You were like an abandoned wife, devastated with grief,
    and God welcomed you back,
Like a woman married young
and then left,” says your God.

……Lay your foundations with sapphires,
    construct your towers with rubies,
Your gates with jewels,
and all your walls with precious stones.
All your children will have God for their teacher—
what a mentor for your children!
You’ll be built solid, grounded in righteousness,
far from any trouble—nothing to fear!
far from terror—it won’t even come close!
If anyone attacks you,
don’t for a moment suppose that I sent them,
And if any should attack,
    nothing will come of it.

……This is what God’s servants can expect.

I’ll see to it that everything works out for the best.

And so I believe that with each day we all need to grow in our trust and relationship with who God created us to be and who God says we are. People will always fail us. People will fail to appreciate us. People will find other things to do that are more fun than hanging out with us. People will choose the easy road. People will abandon us. People will do all sorts of things. But God will always see to it that everything works out–and not only works out but works out for the best.

So when you are feeling lonely or overlooked remember that the God who owns everything who made everything chose you. Wanted you. Pursued you. Keep your perspective on the main thing which is Him and not on what everyone around you finds praise-worthy.
