SOAP 6.14.17

Good morning!⠀

This morning I had my tea and am ready to dive into a SOAP for you guys.⠀

For those who don’t know, SOAP stands for:⠀

Scripture⠀
Observation⠀
Application⠀
Prayer⠀

Scripture: Hebrews 6:18-20 MSG

We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us, in the order of Melchizedek.

Observation: Nothing can break the lifeline between us and God. God is like the person in front of you in a relay race, but instead of passing you the baton, He offers it to you to hold on to.

Application: If I am running hard to God, I have every right to grab on to His hope and never let go to keep in the presence of God.

Prayer: God help me keep up my endurance to keep running. Runners can get cramps, or can trip and fall down, but more than anything keep me motivated and energetic to keep on running after you.

Planting Seeds

Website Applications: 37

LinkedIn Easy Apply Applications: 56

Recruiters: 4

Over the past month I have been forced into the job search unexpectedly once again. Let’s be honest, most of us, dread this search. You cast out a bunch of applications, you contact everyone you once worked with, after a few weeks, your life can feel like one endless blur of resumes and cover letters.

I don’t have anything groundbreaking to say. In many ways I feel lost myself at times. But what I do know is that God promises to be there for us in the midst. And He promises that what we may sow with tears we will reap with joy.

If you find yourself in this season, like I am, you’re not alone. Let’s be faithful with whats in our hands and do our due diligence but trust the rest to God to turn around.

SOAP 6.4.17

Good morning!⠀

This morning I had my tea and am ready to dive into a SOAP for you guys.⠀

For those who don’t know, SOAP stands for:⠀

Scripture⠀
Observation⠀
Application⠀
Prayer⠀

Scripture: John 11:14-15 MSG

Then Jesus became explicit: “Lazarus died. And I am glad for your sakes that I wasn’t there. You’re about to be given new grounds for believing. Now let’s go to him.”

Observation: Jesus is never discouraged by what we might see as an “ending”. Everything is an opportunity for God to show up.

Application: There are many times where I might feel like life is over. Dreams are dying. Nothing makes sense, and yet God looks at me and my situations and says, Jess, you are about to be given new grounds for believing me.

Prayer: God please help me to remember your power when it seems like nothing can come to life.

Community Feature – @thoughtsbytiffanie

One of my new initiatives is to hear from my followers in a way that directly meets them on their journeys.⠀

On Instagram I encourage you to tag your posts with #unfilteredchristianwomen so I can see what everyone is up to and feature topics that they are currently thinking about or needing feedback on.⠀

My goal will always be to write a blog post each month on a topic from my own heart BUT I also want to make room for another post that same month directly addressing a topic found via Instagram using the community hashtag.⠀

This month I am featuring a post from: @thoughtsbytiffanie *⠀

—–⠀

I think Tiffanie’s post is a great reminder that things are not always going to look like we thought they would. But that doesn’t mean that we aren’t on the right track.⠀

My default can often be to think God doesn’t care about me. I’ve gotten better over the years, but if I’m not vigilant this can easily creep up on me when I’m going through hard times.

I love the two points Tiffanie highlighted:

You’re not being punished, you’re being protected.

You’re not being punished, you’re being prepared.

Nahum 1:7 is a good reminder of God’s protection:

“The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.”

also

1 Corinthians 2:9 is a good reminder of God’s preparations for us:

“What no eye has seen,
    what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”[a]
the things God has prepared for those who love him

Jesscbnyc Recommends: Colour 2017 Journal

Hey guys! Who doesn’t love a journal? I find myself suckered into a new journal at every conference and I was honestly on the fence about this one.

It’s quite larger than a normal journal but I loved the cover art and the layout.

This has quickly become my favorite “Accountability” journal to make sure I don’t just hoard sermons but actually remember to remove them off my phone and take notes on them.

If you’re looking for an unusual, more create journal, this one might be for you! You can purchase it online via HillsongStore.com

Accountability

I’ve realized that I collect a lot of Voice Memos on my iPhone. I like being able to record sermons from church in case any of my friends miss it and also so I can re-listen to messages or playback areas I wasn’t quick enough to take notes on.

One of the downsides to recording everything is that I’ve amassed so many that I’ve gotten a little lazy with the whole, taking notes from them, part.

During Colour I purchased a new notebook, even though I have a lot, and last month I got to thinking. I can use this book as an accountability tool to make sure that I am going through all my recordings and taking out the best notes from them.

What’s something you can do today to keep yourself accountable?
